This is a Vintage, All-Original 1959 Gretsch 6121 Chet Atkins Solid body Electric Guitar.
It sports an elegant orange finish. They don't make guitars like this anymore. This '59 has the classic Gretsch horse shoe inlay on the headstock. The ebony fingerboard is adorned with thumbnail inlays. The base of the adjustable bridge is also made of Ebony. The fading gold hardware compliments the unique Gretsch finish.
This guitar has one master volume below the pickguard as wellas individual volume controls for each pickup (by the Bigsby). There are two 3-way selector switches. One of them is for pickup selection...the other one is a tone control. The body is bound on both the top and bottom with 3-ply (white-black-white) binding. The binding has aged to a beautiful yellow. The neck and headstock are bound with a single white ply which has also nicely aged. The FilterTrons have that classic, beautiful Gretsch sound we all love. There's a reason why serious guitar playerslike Chet Atkins played these guitars. The action is low.
The frets are Original, and in Very Good condition. Cosmetically, this guitar is an 8.75 out of 10. There are two cosmetic blemishes on the back of the neck.A small paint chip at the 4th fret... and although it's smooth to the touch, some lacquer was dulled from whatlooks like, a guitar stand. The binding at the 17th fret, on the bass side, has the tiniest chip missing. There is a small separation in the binding on the back next to one of the Bigsby mounting screws. The bridge pickup ring has a crack The previous owner of the guitar etched the guitar's serial number into one of the back plates. These imperfections are minuscule but worth noting.
